Pamela Pine, PhD, MPH, has three decades of global experience working on some of the world’s most difficult health and development issues. She has worked on various public health and information, education, and communication (IEC) programs in the United States. and throughout the world (e.g. Albania, Egypt, Ecuador, Ethiopia, India, Morocco, Philippines, Tunisia, Turkey, United States, Yemen, Zaire, and Zambia).
Throughout her career, Dr. Pine has provided technical and managerial leadership to national and international communication programs geared to enhancing the lives of the poor. Dr. Pine previously worked as Project Director for a coca prevention communication and education program in Ecuador and other health endeavors, and as the Communication Director for the Population, Health, and Nutrition Information (PHNI) Project under a USAID-funded program. Her other past work also has included:
- Project Director for a privately-sponsored social marketing program for the prevention of alcohol abuse
- Research/informational booklets geared to addressing the relationship between substance abuse and child sexual abuse (SAMHSA)
- A national eye health education program (NEI)
- Service/advocacy/education programs serving children with special needs, people with tuberculosis (TB), Hansen’s disease (leprosy), HIV/AIDS, abused children, battered, poor, and incarcerated women
Dr. Pine has provided a full spectrum of assistance including: primary and secondary, and qualitative and quantitative formative research; strategy development and planning; analysis and segmentation of target audiences; message and channel identification; marketing plan development; materials design, development and pre-testing; program implementation; and evaluation research. Dr. Pine speaks Arabic and French. Employers and/or clients have included United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the World Bank, the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and Peace Corps, as well as private and non-profit companies.
